Living Well Dying Well – Lewes, East Sussex
stephanie December 19th, 2008
The work of the Living Well Dying Well charity focuses on addressing the reality of British society which is increasingly separated from death as a natural part of life.
This project aims to foster communities of people who have a less fearful approach to death, who feel comfortable around the subject of death and are more prepared for it. It is aimed at people from all walks of life, those who have a religious or spiritual practice and those who have none.
Living Well Dying hosts facilitated “conversations” about death, life-skills seminars for the public and health professionals, creating safe opportunities for people to reflect on their attitudes to death and dying, so that they might better live life and help others to do so. An innovative training course is being created to train Doulas (midwives) for the dying, to create support for people at the end of life and their families.
